COVID Vaccination Status

From 18 February 2022, you don’t have to show the NHS COVID pass to go to indoor and outdoor events, and venues like cinemas, theatres and nightclubs. But you will still need COVID pass for travelling abroad.

The NHS COVID Pass and COVID Pass Letter lets you share your coronavirus (COVID-19) status records in a secure way, and allows you to prove that you have had a full course of the vaccine.

It allows you to show others the details of your COVID-19 status:

  • when travelling abroad to some countries or territories

  • at venues or events across the UK that choose to use the NHS COVID Pass as a condition of entry

You can get an NHS COVID Pass:

COVID Pass - Domestic Use

The COVID Pass confirms your vaccination status or that you have had a negative lateral flow test result within the past 24 hours. If you are registered with a GP in the UK, were vaccinated in Wales or England and are aged 16 or over, you can get a digital NHS COVID Pass.

To access the COVID Pass using a smart phone, a computer or laptop use the following link https://covid-status.service.nhsx.nhs.uk/

Further information and guidance will be made available by the Welsh Government in the near future. View the current guidance on accessing the COVID Pass.

COVID Pass - International Use

You may be asked to show your prove your vaccination status or show your NHS COVID Pass to travel abroad. You can access your NHS COVID pass for international travel online and download or print the Pass as a PDF document. It is recommended you register and use this service at least 2 weeks before you are due to travel.

You should check that your first name and your surname on your passport match how they are displayed by your NHS COVID Pass at least 3 weeks before you travel. If the names are different, contact your GP practice to have your details updated. Please note, name changes could result in temporary issues with matching your GP record to your hospital and prescription records.

To access the service, you'll need to register for an NHS login if you do not have one already. To register for an NHS login you'll need to upload a photo of your ID (passport, full UKL driving licence).

If you cannot apply digitally using the NHS App or online service, or do not have photographic ID available to get the online pass, you can ask for an NHS COVID Pass letter to be sent to you by post. You can also apply on behalf of someone else.

COVID Pass - Request Certificate (Letter)

Either apply online at NHS COVID Pass letter or call 119 to request a COVID Pass letter for essential international travel.

It can take up to 10 working days for a certificate to arrive. No requests can be fast tracked and certificates cannot be collected. You can call 7 days a week between 9am and 5pm.

There are 2 letters that will be provided to you:

  • 1 letter is for travel abroad

You'll be sent the letters you're eligible for. You may be sent a travel letter, a domestic letter or both. The letters are valid for 30 days. You should get them within 7 working days of the date you ask for them.
